“CONTENDER” is one of the largest sport fishing vessels (25ft) in Exmouth, it allows us to access the best fishing the Ningaloo Reef has to offer. Being able to handle whatever the
ocean throws at us means you will have more opportunity to target fish more effectively than smaller vessels, and more accessibility to target fish in shallower fringe reef areas and lagoons than larger vessel .  Our vessel “CONTENDER” has the perfect balance of speed, agility, FISHABILITY and comfort.

This charter offers you the choice of one of the following styles of fishing per day - either Inshore REEF fishing or Inshore SPORT fishing.  

Inshore reef fishing 

For those who want to go reef fishing but do not want to be with a large group of people or go a long way out to sea!

We fish inshore for a variety of shallow water species like Spangled Emperor, Blue Lined Emperor, various cod and perch species and bluebone (Blackspot Tuskfish) and possibly even Coral Trout, along with other shallow water reef fish.

We may anchor or drift baits down to the bottom and we usually use light tackle to really enjoy the fight, perfect for those with young children or for those that get sea sick.

 The day is centered around having fun and experiencing some exciting light tackle reef fish, great for the inexperienced or those who are after a nice feed of shallow water reef fish.

Charter takes place usually in the Gulf waters or the lagoon area according to weather conditions predicted for the day.

The catch is bled and iced for you, and the Captain can fillet for you if it is done within the constraints of the charter hours.

Inshore sport fishing

Fishing in the lagoon westside or in the gulf, inshore sport fishing charters are Exciting!

Casting lures at the beautiful fringing reef will have you in awe of its beauty. Fishing in less than two metres of water it is always exciting to see the fish before the bite when in the west coast lagoons.

When fishing south of town towards the spectacular scenery of endless sand flats and mangrove lined shores it is truly only a few visitors get to see and witness fishing in the gulf.

Sight casting within the shallow waters of the lagoon or the gulf can also turn up coral trout, spangled emperor, giant herring, mangrove jack and various other species.

Also with sport fishing you would be looking at opportunities to cast at such hard fighting species like spanish mackerel, tuna, cobia, queenfish, GTs, trevally and several other incredible sport fish.

If you are making a multi day booking we suggest letting us know which styles of fishing you are interested in and your Captain will review the predicted weather for your booking and suggest which style will best suit which day.

 We do not have set charter times.  We do everything we can to get you out on the best conditions of the day.  Your Captain will review weather forecasts and use recent knowledge of fishing to set your charter departure location and time.  We do our best to make your time on the water as enjoyable as it can be.

This charter option is self catering for food and drinks.  Chilled water, sunscreen, use of high quality tackle (you are welcome to bring your own gear) and a day out on the water are included. We suggest you also bring is a hat and a camera. 

*** Please note this vessel does not have a toilet onboard *** We do suggest all clients bring weather proof jacket onboard all our vessels.  Transfers are possible for a maximum of 4 and subject to availability and some conditions.  If you are wanting this please let us know and we can run through the details for you to decide.

We suggest this vessel is best suited to 3 clients but it can take up to 4.
